“Community is at the heart of Christian education, not simply as a concept to be learned, but as a reality to be lived,” (To Teach As Jesus Did, 23).

We, the administration and faculty of Saint Clement Elementary School, in preparing our youth to meet the challenges of Christian commitment in today’s society, see our educational purpose as being threefold:

To challenge our students to develop sound moral and ethical values;

To enable our students to flourish as individuals; and,

To participate in the process of quality education.

Because of our size, Saint Clement Elementary School has a unique atmosphere. For us it is truly possible for each and every student and staff member to relate personally with all the other members of the school community.  We are more than just a community; we are, in fact, a family.

As a family, we are able to create an atmosphere wherein each person, in keeping with his or her own uniqueness, is nurtured and encouraged in pursuit of individual growth, understanding and academic achievement.

Together, we have joined in creating a climate wherein each person’s potential to grow can be realized because each is accepted as a unique person. While we recognize the importance of the gifts and talents of each individual, we also value the importance of our growing together as a family.We dedicate ourselves to promoting peace and justice in every aspect of our daily lives in school, our homes and in the communities in which we live.

This handbook is designed to provide students, teachers and parents/guardians with information concerning our academic program, school activities, and school policies. It is essential that all students and parents/guardians read this document carefully in order to gain a clear understanding of our commitment to education and our broader commitment to the values expressed in the Gospel of Jesus.

While it is essential that all members of the school community support and abide by these policies, I continue to solicit your suggestions for improving our programs and activities. Your active involvement is not only encouraged and welcomed; it is essential for the success of our school and all of our students.

I look forward to working with you throughout the coming school year!
