| | | | A big congratulations goes out to those 13 students who accompanied Mr. Jackson and Mr. Nelson on the 20 mile Walk for Hunger. Eleven students completed all 20 miles, and two students walked 11.5 miles! What a huge accomplishment - and on top of that, they raised $555 for a very worthy cause!
| | | | RELAY FOR LIFE - The relay will be on June 1. This event is a great opportunity for both the elementary and high schools to join together to be out in the community and raise money for a very worthy cause. This is a family-friendly event with a DJ, food vendors, karate school demonstrations, etc. There are also very moving stories of cancer survival and support for survivors and caregivers. The relay runs from Saturday, June 1, at 3:00 p.m. and ends on Sunday, June 2, at 7:15 a.m. There is no requirement to stay overnight, but if families want to camp out they can.
Here is the website for the Medford/Somerville event:

 | Ms. Rhodes' Physics Bridge | | The physics class was assigned to “Civil Engineering Firms”. Each firm was hired to design and build a model of a bridge to replace a bridge in their town. The bridge, which was made of balsa wood and glue, had to span at least 40 cm. long, have a roadbed 5 cm. wide, and a clearance of 6 cm. high. The bridges were judged on the design (both individual and the groups design), the model, the aesthetics, the daily journal, and the bridge strength | | Museum of Fine Arts Field Trip | | On May 2nd, Mrs. Gately's Studio Art and Mr. Nelson's Photography Class and Club took a field trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The purpose of the visit was for the students to immerse themselves in art for the day. After visiting the Contemporary Art Section, the groups split to see European and American Modern Art and Ancient Egyptian Art. With the near perfect weather, a fun time was had by all. (Congratulations to Mr. Nelson's Photography Club for winning the Scavenger Hunt Contest by finding all of the correct answers!) | | National Honor Society Induction | | On April 23rd, 2013, the National Honor Society's St. Clement Chapter inducted new members and graduated their previous senior class. This honor was witnessed by friends and family and bestows a great distinction for those recipients. Congratulations to all our inductees and graduates! | | Prom 2013 | | On May 3rd, the St. Clement Prom took place at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham. Included here are a random assortment of pictures from the evening.
Congratulations to John O'Connell and Judy D'Haiti, this year's king and queen (and both with apostrophes!) | | St. Clement Students Help Somerville Road Runners with M.O.M.'s Run | | On Mother's Day, 2013, a group of St. Clement students volunteered along the race route in Somerville for the Somerville Road Runner sponsored M.O.M.'s Run, (Mary O'Brien Memorial, a lifelong Somerville resident who died in 2002) a 5K road race held to raise money for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute! Our students helped as Course Marshalls--directing runners and walkers and cheering them on-- and did a fantastic job at it! Cheers to all on a very happy Mother's Day! | | The Culture Club's Spring International Fair! | | Saint Clement’s newly founded Culture Club had its first international fair this past April. The exhibition showcased the school’s diversity and was designed to spark students’ interest in exploring other countries and cultures. Italy, Vietnam, China, Japan, South Korea and America were among the countries represented. Each station included a poster board and provided samples of food to share with students and give them a “taste” of each country during lunch. All in all, it was a huge success! | | Walk for Hunger 2013 | | On May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) 2013, 13 students along with Messrs. Jackson and Nelson participated in the Walk for Hunger in and around Boston to raise money for Project Bread. Project Bread's goal is eliminating hunger in the world today, and St. Clement brought them $555 closer to their goal through fundraising and donations. Of the 15 that started, 12 walked all 20 miles and the remaining 3 were able to walk at least to the lunch stop at the 11.5 mile marker! |
